UK FIT Scheme
The UK is the windiest country in Europe, with wind resources sufficent to power its energy needs several times over. Since 2007, wind energy has overtaken hydropower as the largest renewable energy source and has been the fastest growing renewable source for the last seven years.
The Government’s Renewable Energy Strategy has set ambitious targets for renewable energy generation. By 2020, the Government aims to be generating 15% of all the UK’s energy needs from renewables, which means that 35-45% of electricity will have to come from green sources. To help drive this seismic change, the Government launched the Feed-in Tariff Scheme in the UK in April 2010. Feed-in tariffs (FITs) offer landowners a fantastic opportunity to generate energy and share in the profits this will accrue.
We at Turbowind Energy are helping farmers, landowners and business owners to develop single 400kW wind turbines on their land and take advantage of this superb prospect.
Feed-in tariff income is index-linked to the UK CPI for twenty years and provides payment for generation of renewable electricity as well as export of that electricity to the grid.
